Think back to your high school prom…the planning, the shopping and the pure pleasure of expectation and suspense. But for some girls it’s more of a worry than joy looking forward to prom. Where will they get the money for the gown, shoes, and accessories for the highly anticipated evening?

Over the past month, members of PWC have generously donated clothes, evening bags, jewelry, slips, foundational undergarments, hosiery and shoes to the PWC project, “Prom Accessory collection for PACE Center for Girls!”
One afternoon was set aside to organize and sort the clothes and the second was where the fun took place…delivering the goods to the girls.

Under the guidance of Community Involvement co-chairs, Elizabeth Paulson and Snowden McFall, several racks of gowns, dozens of shoes and a wide variety of accessories were given to the PACE Center girls in anticipation of their prom.
Girls “shopped” for just the right outfit for their big night. They tried on gowns, shoes and picked out just the right bags and jewelry to get the total look.

The appreciation was evident in the girls’ smiles.

Thank you PWC for your generosity!

Get involved!!

The PWC Community Involvement Committee is busy  collecting donations for the PACE Center for Girls. There are lots of items that are needed including  costume jewelry, evening shoes, purses, shaws, etc.   Remember when you were a teenager and how important these things were to you? Bring your new or gently used items to the March meetings! You will make a girl very happy!

PWC also encourages it's members to GET INVOLVED! How do you do that? Check out our website and look at the list of committees (http://pwcjax.org/pwcjax/Committees.aspx). When you see one that appeals to you, call the chair and ask them what you can do to help! You'll be amazed at the friendships you'll form and the gratification you'll get out of helping the organization!

Buy Chamber

Besides the networking, PWC aims to educate its members. This was never more apparent that at the last luncheon meeting when Michael Dwyer of Dahger Printing, talked about the Buy Chamber website.
Michael walked over 80 members through the site, screen-by-screen, to demonstrate the ease of the website. He set up an example deal using his own company and explained that the deals are between the chamber members and whatever money is collected is not routed through the chamber.
To get in and sign up, go to http://membertomemberdeals.com/ or call Kathy Bolesworth at 366-6633 for more information.

Leadership and the Entrepreneurial Spirit!

Are you starting a business? Trying to grow your business? Or just trying to manage day to day?

It’s that time of year, when we take a good hard look at our business and revisit everything we’ve accomplished, the mistakes we’ve made and think about what we’d do differently. We’re also looking at our goals for the New Year.

What better time to attend PWC University’s “Leadership and the Entrepreneurial Spirit!”

The event will be held at Brighton Bay (10061 Sweetwater Pkwy) on Wednesday, December 14 from 9-11 a.m.  The cost is only $15 if you register by December 12! Registration after that date will be $25.

Business leaders Lauren Little, owner of Edible Arrangements; Lynne Coggin, owner of The Referral Institute of Jacksonville; and Michele McManamon, vice president and co-owner of Sandler Training will lead a panel discussion. PWC has some questions on hot topics to get them started then questions will be open to attendees!

Light refreshments will be served.

Sponsored by Camille Clement Gregg, owner of Outside the Box Consulting, LLC.
